Get ready for a journey to the past and enjoy the same voyage up the Telemark Canal as royalties and nobles did over 100 years ago.

Start your day with breakfast on board on either “the king” or “the queen” of the Telemark Canal while you travel on the narrow rivers, wide lakes, and through massive locks.
Lower your shoulders and your pulse, enjoy good food and beverage, and observe the ever-changing landscape.

The atmosphere at Dalen Hotel is filled with history and luxury. The restaurant has world class food and service, and the storytelling in front of the fireplace wraps you in the experience of being the observer of history.

The second day at Dalen Hotel should be spent exploring the many things to see and do in Dalen. Why don’t you book yourself into the world-famous sauna “Soria Moria”, hike the Lårdalsstigen or, perhaps, just enjoy a calm Afternoon Tea in the hotel garden.


Travel Route:

Day 1
- Kl. 07:50 attendance at Hjellebrygga pier in Skien (Remember to get a parking permit from the crew on board if you need to park your car at Hjellebrygga pier)
- Kl. 08:10 departure with MS Henrik Ibsen or MS Victoria from Hjellebrygga pier.
- Meals on board: Breakfast and lunch is included in the package.
- Kl. 17:40 / 18:35 arrival at Lastein pier in Dalen.
- From the pier to Dalen Hotel you can either take the hotel bus or take a walk while you send your luggage with the bus.
- Accommodation at the Dalen Hotel with a glass of aperitif and 4-course dinner and storytelling.

Day 2:
- Enjoy the breakfast at the hotel.
- We recommend a visit to West Telemark Museum and go for a walk from the museum to Rui-farm.
- Back at the hotel you may enjoy Afternoon Tea (12.00 – 15.00. Not included. Pre-booking and payment must be handled directly at the hotel)
- In the evening a 4-course dinner will be served in the hotel restaurant. After dinner, coffee is served in front of the fireplace or in Hallen listening to classical tunes.

Day 3:
- Kl. 08:00 / 08:50departure with MS Victoria or MS Henrik Ibsen from Lastein pier in Dalen.
- Meals on board: Breakfast and lunch is included in the package.
- Kl. 17:30 arrival and disembarking at Hjellebrygga pier in Skien.


Practical information on board:

Parking:
Your car can be parked at the parking lot at Hjellebrygga pier free of charge. Be aware that you need a parking permit to avoid fines. Collect it from the crew on board before departure.

Meals on board:
There is a restaurant on board. Included in this package you will be served breakfast and a 2-course lunch both ways. Seating time to be agreed directly with the restaurant staff once you have boarded. You can also order food directly at the boat from their menu. It is not possible to book a table for the entire journey.

Dress code:
In the evening, the restaurant has a smart casual dress code. It is possible to borrow a suit jacket at the hotel.
